Peet obtained the degree of Bachelor of Science from the University of Pretoria in 2003. He went on to complete his actuarial studies, being admitted as a Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa in 2013. He was first approved as a valuator by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority in 2016 and holds a practicing certificate from the Actuarial Society of South Africa.

He started his career in 2005 as an analyst at Alexander Forbes Financial Services in the actuarial department, providing actuarial valuation and consulting services to retirement funds. In 2011, he left the employ of Alexander Forbes to join Fifth Quadrant Actuaries & Consultants (which through a series of mergers and acquisitions became Willis Towers Watson).

Peet left Willis Towers Watson on 30 November 2018 and joined Keystone on 1 December 2018. He is an approved valuator (defined benefit, defined contribution and hybrid funds) of retirement funds and also has significant experience in preparing reporting for companies under International Accounting Standard 19.
